A crossing of hearts Cover Image Book Book

A crossing of hearts / Michel Tremblay ; translated by Sheila Fischman.

Tremblay, Michel, 1942- (author.). Fischman, Sheila, (translator.).

Summary:

It is early August 1915, and the three Desrosiers sisters - Tititte, Maria, and Teena - are planning a week-long vacation in the foothills of the Laurentian mountains. They'll escape the stifling heat of Montreal and do nothing but gossip, laugh, and lounge around, before plunging into a cool blue lake. Then Maria decides to bring along her children Rhéauna (Nana) and Théo. In the countryside, Nana, the young city girl, comes alive as she explores the natural world - and the enchanted forest of her inner, maturing self. Encounters with rural relatives crystallize Nana's true feelings for her mother, as long-unspoken longings and other family secrets fuse day and night.
